Who We Are:
We are a non-breeding, no-kill sanctuary that provides a lifelong home for unwanted abandoned and homeless animals.

Our primary, but not exclusive focus is for Pot Belly and other pigs.
We currently shelter along with 250 pot pigs, miniature horses, goats, dogs, rabbits, and horses.

One characteristic that makes At Last A Home unique is that our animals do not live their lives in cages or kennels. They have access to acres and acres of land and live in harmony with other animals. In some cases, individual needs of certain animals require them to have their own space, and we always take care to ensure each animal's individual needs are met. We have many animals who have their own little yard and their own house. Our goal, however, is to allow the animals to live, play and graze with each other.” — Chris Hinterman

Mission:

At Last A Home is dedicated to providing lifelong care to unwanted, abandoned, abused and rescued animals. Community outreach and education programs promote responsible pet care-giving with emphasis on the importance of spaying and neutering all pets.

At Last A Home will provide information and educate current and prospective potbellied pig owners in care, needs and requirements of ownership. As a non-profit organization we have fund raising events throughout the year, that will be posted on our Web-site. Your participation and enthusiasm is GREATLY appreciated by all of us animals and people alike!

Facilities:

We are located one hour south of Dallas  on 175 rolling acres six miles northeast of Ennis Texas. The ranch is securely enclosed with multiple fences and contains three stock ponds, huge trees and grazing meadows.

The main animal building is a new 80x60 barn with an attached addition. There are also several individual and small group shelters to accommodate an animals individual needs. Each animal’s individual situation determines its location in the facility.

"We believe that these animals should be allowed to live their lives to the fullest, determined by their unique and individual needs."
— Chris Hinterman

Boarding:
Piggy camp is available for use during family vacations, business trips, relocations, illness and just "time outs." Camp is offered both short and long term. Pig Town is located on the shady south side of the property away from the general population and next to the house. It has individually themed housing each securely fenced with amenities such as a private tree, grass and pool during warm weather. Boarding for other pets is separate with equal amenities.

Rescues:
At Last A Home takes in neglected, abandoned, or injured animals. We assist shelters and law enforcement with rescues. We also receive animals from former owners, no longer able to care for them due to illness, death or financial reversals.

Adoptions:
Adoption is available after thorough screening of applicant.

Applicants must visit us multiple times to fully understand the life changing commitment they are considering. Compatibility and expectations and above all the needs of the animal are factors to be considered before any animal is placed. "We are more apt to tell you why you don't need one of the residents here than why you do. “Many applicants find it better to visit and spoil a special animal that they sponsor and support." — Chris Hinterman

Sponsor
Selecting one of our animals is a great alternative to a pet in the home. You will receive a frame-able certificate,  photo updates, and the opportunity to visit and spoil your special pet. Sponsoring is tax deductible, makes a great gift, and helps provide for the essential needs of the animals.
